Swap positions: Turning a 4-step manual process into one guided flow
Design Challenge
The core tension: reduce the steps without hiding the details users need to make informed decisions
Constraints
Integrate Swap Positions into Summer.fi Pro without disrupting existing flows
Make the process feel like one action, even though multiple transactions happen under the hood
Design without user testing or research data — relying on existing knowledge and close collaboration with Product and internal teams
Design Solutions
Proactive guidance
Users couldn't evaluate options without knowing what they were optimizing for. Instead of unfolding all options at once, we led with goal selection, such as higher LTV, lower cost, or position type, and used that to surface the most relevant options.

Well-organized information
DeFi positions carry a lot of numbers — LTV, collateral, debt, liquidation price. Showing everything equally would have been overwhelming. I prioritized the metrics most relevant to the swap decision and grouped them deliberately, so users could scan quickly rather than parse a wall of data.
Side-by-side comparison
Switching positions involves many financial decisions. Users needed to see what exactly changed before committing. I surfaced the Before and After states side by side, highlighting only the values that changed, so users can confirm the move with confidence rather than anxiety.
Frictionless entry points
Entry points appear where they're most relevant — on position cards where a better option is available, and on the position management page as a contextual prompt. The goal wasn't to push users toward the feature, but to surface it at the moment it was genuinely useful. If there's nothing better to switch to, there's no prompt
Outcomes
Swap Positions shipped as part of Summer.fi Pro within the 2-month timeline, fully integrated without disrupting existing flows.
Feedback: Internal users found the transfer process intuitive and smooth.
